InkenSoul Press announces the re-release of Steve McAllister’s debut novel, Descent.

August 24, 2009 – Sarasota, FL – InkenSoul Press proudly announces the re-release of Steve McAllister’s first novel, Descent. First released as an eBook in 1995, Descent was years ahead of its time, being one of the first full novels to be released through the digital medium. Fourteen years after its initial publication, Descent is once again available as an eBook only through the website www.themcallistercode.com. Starting on 9-9-09, Descent will also be unveiled through the website as a serial novel, one segment a day over three months time.

Considered the first part of the McAllister trilogy, Descent tells the story of Kyle Kelly,  a college student/part-time Youth Pastor who returns to Sarasota after his teenage sister is attacked and left for dead. A fast paced thriller with an intriguing mystery, the book also touches on the religious undertones McAllister has come to be known for by presenting an evangelical protagonist with a crisis of faith.

“In many ways,” McAllister says, “my three books truly underscore my own journey of spirituality. In Descent, I introduced a very religious guy who was struggling with a lot of the dogma of the Church. In The Rucksack Letters, I just examined whatever came my way from Buddhism to Paganism. And The McAllister Code offers a much more open yet centered form of spirituality where I think I’ve really found my true grounding again.”

More John Grisham than Billy Graham, Descent is based primarily in Sarasota, Florida, a location used in all of the author’s books. His latest, The McAllister Code, which will also be released as an eBook on 9-09-09, is about extraterrestrials who want to turn the beachfront town into a marketing mecca. His next book, Maelstrom, a prequel to The McAllister Code, will feature some of the characters from Descent, and will also be released in serial format as it is written. “The digital medium offers us so many new ways of reaching people and communicating, “McAllister states. “I think part of our art as a community will be the way we take advantage of the mediums available and create new modes of distribution, expression, and marketing. If any city is capable of that, it’s Sarasota.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

June 5, 2009 – Sarasota, Florida

Starting July 1, 2009, Steve McAllister, author of The Rucksack Letters, is publishing his latest book The McAllister Code as a serial email publication through the Internet at www.themcallistercode.com. Interested readers pay one dollar at the website for access to the well-guarded book through daily emails. They will also get access to the upcoming McAllister Code website, which offers a full social construct that allows readers to interact, discuss the book, and find other connections.

The writing of the book was initiated in August of 2005 when a mysterious press release came to the attention of the writer through the daily newsletter of SRQ Magazine. The press release stated that The McAllister Code by Steve McAllister was to be published by Pelican Bay Press. It was described as a fictional approach to marketing involving aliens infiltrating Sarasota and turning it into a marketing mecca, However, the writer had never heard of the book or the company.

Following the mystery as far as he could with no answers, McAllister eventually decided to write the book anyway, basing it not only on how to make the most of one’s business through marketing, but how to make the most of one’s life using a carefully designed construct of paths to elevation throughout various cultures and traditions. These include references from Stephen Covey, Joseph Campbell, Christianity, Kaballah, Buddhism, Tarot, Alcoholics Anonymous, and others.

McAllister, also the maker of such films at Attention Deficit Disorder: Life at a Different Pace and Lesson Learned, is in production on a documentary exploring these traditions and how they apply to marketing, business, and life to serve as a companion to the book.
